STORAGE & HANDLING
EGGS:
Our eggs are brushed clean but unwashed for maximum nutrition benefits and an extended shelf life - no refrigeration needed!
Unwashed eggs can be stored at room temperature for 3 weeks or longer if kept cool. This is safe because they retain the natural protective bloom on their shell, which helps keep bacteria out.
If the eggs are washed (wet-washed), this bloom is removed, and the eggs must be refrigerated immediately to reduce risk of Salmonella. Washed eggs must be stored in the refrigerator and will keep for up to 4 months.
Always wash hands and preparation surfaces after handling eggs.
PRODUCE:
Enjoy your produce within the first 3–5 days for maximum freshness and flavor, though heartier items like root vegetables and squash may last longer when stored properly.
CHICKEN:
To keep your pasture-raised chicken safe and delicious, please follow these guidelines:
- Store fresh chicken in the refrigerator at 40°F or below. Use within 1–2 days of delivery.
- For longer storage, freeze immediately. Whole chickens keep best for up to 12 months in the freezer.
- Always thaw in the refrigerator, never at room temperature. Allow approximately 24 hours per 4–5 pounds of chicken.
- Wash hands, utensils, and surfaces thoroughly after handling raw poultry.
- Cook chicken to an internal temperature of 165°F, measured at the thickest part of the breast or thigh.
